Hello. I am well. I did get the books…I have a court date coming up on the 5th and I have no idea what is going to happen that day because I have not seen my lawyer in sometime. I hope all is well, but God only knows. I pray that it will be okay daily, but if you don’t have money to fight them you are at the mercy of the courts. And so I wait.
How are you, hope all is well? I received your letter in good spirits. What you and the Inside-Outside Alliance are doing is beautiful. I was starting to think nobody cared. These institutions that house the mentally ill and the poverty-stricken need to be stopped. But how can you beat a capitalist machine, which has unlimited resources, and is bent on mass incarceration? Sometimes it scares me to think how evil these people are. We’re dealing with a lot of illiteracy in places like this, all over the country, but in the south it’s the worst. The publications that circulate through places like this are destructive and deal in destructive behavior. There’s no dictionaries, no law books, nothing, how can I fight for my life?
Hello, thank you for reaching out to me. Most people don’t understand the stress that being locked up in a building brings a person of my kind. My kind is the kind that works every day to make sure the bills are paid, go to school so that I can one day have a better career, give to those in need without looking for return, and being an all-around family man. Being in here has set me back, way back. Continue reading →
I don’t know if you have paid close attention to my letter I wrote about me being an analyst…it was even posted in this month’s feedback under “Point Blank Period” in association with the inside information about Brother McCain’s death and the severe head injury he experienced. I mentioned how the Durham County Jail’s staff would meet the demands being made but also unequivocally cause conflict in the meeting of these demands to continue an uproar in the jail, because its result would boil down to what’s more important. This is Jason L., sorry I haven’t had the chance to write you as often as I would have liked to. I’m trying to work my time away and I am within 24 days of release from this God-forsaken hellhole I have been caged up in for the past 13.5 months! I would like to express my thanks to you and all of the people out there fighting to have voices of men and women trapped here for various insufficient reasons. Also, thank you for posting our letter in this last issue of “feedback.” Continue reading →
First off I would like to thank you for writing me and for your concern in DCJ. I have been here for a while and being locked back 16 ½ hours a day can drive me crazy at times. On top of that they run the A/C all year round and only give us one blanket and yes, it’s freezing like hell. I’m not understanding—we already locked up, what more do they need? Continue reading →

I’m doing ok, just another day in jail. Thanks for writing. I don’t really know too much about the death of Matthew McCain, but I know the guard that was working that pod (Erick Boria) the day it happened is very lazy—all he does is sit at the desk either reading a book or looking at TV. He doesn’t do his rounds every 15 minutes like a lot of other guards here. Continue reading →
Kropotkin wrote a lot on the wrongs of prisons. These two paragraphs hit the nail on the head for me. Sadly I feel these effects.
The theory of will power
“There is another important cause of demoralization in prisons. All transgressions of accepted moral standards may be ascribed to lack of a strong will. the majority of inmates of prisons are people who did not have sufficient strength to resist the temptations surrounding them or to control a passion which momentarily carried them away. In prisons as in monasteries, everything is done to kill a man’s will. Continue reading →

First off, let me say thanks for saying Happy B-day. I really appreciate it. But nah, we been coming out 9-12:45/4-6:45, nah don’t believe everything the pigs say cause most of it BS. I’ve been here 5 and a half months and I’m not hearing nothing from my lawyer and I haven’t been to court in 3 months. I’m hoping and praying for probation, but it’s gonna be a lot, but it’s better than this shitty place. I should be getting out soon, though. I don’t have bread/money on my account to get stamps, but I’ll send it soon as I can.
