‘Still being held hostage from the sun!’

What’s good IOA? Ain’t shit changed in this hell hole but the date. “Still being held hostage from the sun!” The jail still refuses to treat us like human beings. You know it’s been a whole thirty one days since I wrote my last letter and they still haven’t fixed the damn kiosk in our pod. They come on and look at it like everything is just normal. They’re making it hard on themselves and us because we have to ask for paper sick calls and canteen sheets, then they want to bitch and complain. The medical people take forever to check the medical box and when they do it’s still a wait. But they want that 20 dollars on command.

As far as canteen goes, Pam is cool she tries to get her job done the best she can but wherever they found (the other) girl they need to send her back because she always fucking some shit up and eating all the chips and shit. That high-ass canteen is meant for us. To those that protest for us and was willing to get locked up on March 13 to stand up on our behalf about this visitation thing, I say thank you.

How are you doing? Well I would like to start off by saying that I am so sorry for taking so long to write you guys (IOA) back. This letter is well overdue, but I hope I’m not too late. I hope you all (IOA) are doing well and this letter gets to you quickly.

Well I have been doing ok, given the circumstances I’m in. I have been having a lot on my mind these past few months, but other than that and trying to stay out of trouble, I have been ok. What’s been going on with me? Well, not too long ago I had a talk with my lawyer and found out that after almost two years (22 months) the D.A. is just now getting the autopsy back. Which should have been back, but as you already know Durham County justice system is messed up and they will do anything as well as whatever they want to do to you. Continue reading →

‘Our day is coming sooner than later’

What’s up world? I’m so tired of being in here. I’ve been here 20 months, my life is on hold. What happened to staying out until 11:00? My kids don’t even come in at 6:45! Also, what’s up with these “no court date shown?” I can’t get house arrest because I don’t live in Durham. The struggle is real. I haven’t been charged for medical since I have been here, now all of a sudden they want to take my money. Never again will I go unless I’m half-way dead. $20 for some shampoo, really? I like to say at the end of the day they get to go home and we stuck here. Some care and some don’t. Out of sight and out of mind. But our day is coming sooner than later. They can’t hold us forever. Hello!

My name is J. B. I’m an inmate in Durham County jail scheduled to return to — County…I am in fear of serving the rest of my time in Durham due to an outbreak of scabies that the jail and medical staff have tried to cover up. I was exposed to this disease because the medical staff put the inmate who was infected in our block. I actually shook hands with him, he used the phones and showers. Two days later they removed him and the sergeant along with a nurse came in with biohazard bags and removed his personal items. Continue reading →

Thanks for writing to me. It took me a long time to write you back cause of my mental health and medical problems. Right now, as I write to you, it is very much a hard struggle. I don’t want my name in the feedback, only my initial L.

These are the things I want talked about. One, I’m not a half person. I’m like the singer Usher. If I’m gonna tell it, then I’m gonna tell it all!

1.) Bed bugs, or some kind of bugs I’m not sure. Now I don’t know what this meant, but before they did it I kept complaining. These bugs were eating away at us. But n-e-ways, over the weekend in the women’s pod of 5D (maybe the whole jail), Mr. Ham and his supervisor gave “everybody” brand new washcloths, towels, 1 sheet, blanket and laundry bag! ‘They didn’t cover my issues…’

“Well, I guess the only thing I didn’t or don’t miss is being locked down all these hours, watching them damn jailers watching TV or playing on the computer instead of watching me!”

Well, I read the paper on the forum. I’m not really sure, it just seems like they didn’t cover my issues, and then the 42 letters, if true, would be like 8% of the inmates. Hell I sent at least 3 on 4 different topics: food, medical & dental, lawyers taking too many clients. You could imagine guys what it’s like in here, not able to defend yourself at all, with lawyers that won’t answer our letters, mail, email, and for those who have loved ones or friends on the outside to aid in communication with your lawyer, they still aren’t able to contact them for months on going! ‘Our life and health is at stake’

Medical staff brings meds at different times, 3 or 4 different hours and different times each day. Medication should be taken consistently around the same time daily, not when they want to give it to you. That’s why a lot of medications are not helping because the way they are passed out is incorrect. This goes for the diabetic patients, as well as other medications. They should be taken on a schedule–on time–not when they want you to have it. Our life and health is at stake.I take medication for PTSD and bipolar disorder. I take my medication seriously. A Trip to the Dentist

What did you say, Dawn! This is true, me and another inmate we waited 6 weeks, both with the same problem. We both had teeth to break off at the gum line. Medical of course blames it on the dentist! The nurse told us both the same thing. The dentist chooses who goes first. So we decided we would ask them. Why so long? They said that they were willing to work more than 4 hours a week, but that’s all the jail would allow. I think those dentists do a very good job. At somewheres around  people a week is all they have time to do. Then they need to start transporting those who are in bad pain, 2 Tylenol in morning and evening is the max we will get for up to 1.5 months or until the dentist has seen you. I had an infection for those 6 weeks, and they still didn’t take me to the dentist. They cut my medication off, though! Had to go back down to medical to have it re-upped. Then I finally went within a week. Who’s really to blame?! And I’m damn sure I’m not by myself!! Help correct this!!
