On December 11th IOA sent surveys in to every detainee in the Durham jail for over 30 days asking them questions about their concerns in the Jail and what they’d like to see IOA do about it.
What are your biggest current concerns regarding the Durham County Jail?
How innocent people are in jail and the system still holds you when they know you are innocent. Me and my son are in this jail on two different charges, I’ve been in here 15 months and they know I’m innocent, my son has been in here a month and he’s innocent, but they keep you locked up for no reason without solid evidence.

What issue(s) should Inside-Outside Alliance focus on in the coming year?

You should focus on the innocent people in jail.

What action(s) would you like to see Inside-Outside Alliance organize?

I would like for you to go to the media about the innocent people who are being confined in jail under high bonds, higher than the murderers and all. My bond is 1 million, for drugs someone else had and my son’s bond is 1 million for someone else shooting someone in the leg. It is not right.
