poems by DDC (aka, The Lion)
The Lone Wolf
Nature’s prominent predator, the intelligent hunter.
With eyes that see through darkness and a nose that picks up on emotions.
Without his pack, he roams with strength and pride.
The character of this extraordinary beast protects him from the other packs,
His respect of brilliance and intelligence places him as a leader
And removes him as a threat. The lone wolf.
The Red Bandit
Swift as a snake, smooth as a robber, the red bandit’s on the move
And gaining speed, spreading ideas of social equality amongst the masses.
Strengths inside unity, oh yes! The red bandit knows, so his communist
Views so blatantly show this.
Hurray for the bandit, begone with the social, economic and political struggles
The red bandit’s moving fast in a hurry for trouble.
Fear
The creepy crawler who walks in the shadows at night.
The oversized bully who oppresses all through might!
The unknown that plagues the conscious mind daily
The diseases that rip through our body effortlessly
Fear will all express need if some of us conquer it
But how many of us have taken the time to utilize it?
Justice
I ponder on my future, wonder what’s up next, will I complete the mission
Or will I fail the test?
Certainty is not available within the life I chose, but I hope
I find life’s meaning at the end of this destructive road.
I gaze upon the stars as the heavens look down,
I ask the most sought out question: “Where will this life lead me now?”
The Star Within
A star within the child of poverty, will it ever be realized
Or will it be dimmed by the struggles of oppression.
Oh, let the star shine even when repressed to confinement!
Oh, let the star shine even when captured and trapped in bondage.
Oh, let this star reach the heights and shine enlightenment onto the masses!
This star will join the brightest after the closed casket.
My Own Path
How can you teach me of ambition when you never took a risk
Or coach me on love when you never indulged in bliss
Step aside and let me spread my wings
Gaze upon the stars with my eyes and feel the radiance of their being.
My own personal journey is what I’m meant to embark
So let me walk my path without your useless smarts.
Untitled
The vast darkness in which evils lay and wait
Where demons and spirits enjoy their games
From this ignorance what is my gain
What will I achieve stumbling through and out
I shall not gain consciousness but surely remain in mournful doubt
Pour me a cup of enlightenment, refresh my mind
Pull me into the light and only leave the dreadful shadow of darkness behind!
