‘We know we don’t have to go to sleep, but these cells are so cold you wouldn’t want to do anything else.’

Yo what’s happening,

First off me and my fellow inmates are very appreciative of the concern you and your friends show for our well-being. Thanks for reaching out to me. I have been here since April –, 2014, and when I got here the jail was on lockdown. We was coming out for two hrs every other day, and for someone new to jail like me, that will drive you crazy mentally. Thanks to you guys, things have gotten a little better. We still feel we need more time. Right now they are treating us like kids by trying to put us to bed at 6:45pm. We know we don’t have to go to sleep, but these cells are so cold you wouldn’t want to do anything else. On Oct. 1, 2015, with this new schedule they had let us out at 9pm until 10pm. We enjoyed that hour, then we was looking for that the next night and they said they ‘made a mistake, at least they know what it feels like.’ I think they they forget we’re all human beings and we all make mistakes, but no one deserves the way they treat everyone with charges. We are innocent until proven guilty–so we thought! They treat everybody like they are stone cold blooded killers. Only a few are suffering because everyone who gets locked up don’t have to live here! I noticed a couple months ago not most but all of the canteen we receive food-wise is going out of date within a month or two, and some things are “bad” out of date already. I’ve been here 8 months and I’ve seen it, no lie…

Well I could go on for days wit complaints but I’m sure you know most of them. I enjoyed reading your Feedback pamphlet. It was my first time knowing about it or the IOA and I’m looking forward to hearing from you guys again.

Sincerely,

R.T.
