Support Jail Inmates: Protest to Demand an End to Lockback, Friday April 24 at 6 pm

“We gonna give ’em hell till they open every cell!”

That chant bounced off of the tall walls of the Durham jail last Friday, and that chant along with others will sound loudly again this Friday, April 24, beginning at 6 pm. We need you to come out in support of inmates who are suffering under nearly two months of lock back conditions–23 hours or more in the cell per day. Their mental and physical health is suffering, though their spirit is still strong, as witnessed by the handmade, improvisded signs held in jail windows during last week’s protests. ‘Stop the torture’ said one; ‘End the lockback now’ said another.

We can and we must demand a change–an immediate end to the lockback.
